Graduating from University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center with a Ph.D. in 2013, Dr. Smith has several years of experience in microbiology and an extensive background with running and developing multiplex assays on a variety of platforms. He also has experience managing and directing ISO 17025 laboratories in the context of food safety. Growing up on a ranch in western Oklahoma, his hobbies include raising horses and cattle in addition to a wide variety of outdoor sports. An early interest in the interactions between animals and their environment was one of the driving forces that propelled him to a career in science.
